Labor History Tours
When: June 13, 2018, 2 - 5:30 pm

Bill BarryTour 1 (2:30 - 5:30 pm): 1877 RailRoad Strike Walking Tour facilitated by Bill Barry, Director of Labor Studies (retired) for CCBC from 1997-2012, and maintained a program started in the 1970s by the Reverend Everett L. Miller, Sr. to help put the “move” back into the labor movement.

Description: This tour will start by riding the charm city bus (bus stop is one block from the hotel) and head to the B & O Railroad Museum (only about 5 blocks away) to see their 1877 strike exhibit then walk to the Irish Railroad Workers Shrine for some history and a presentation on the strike and finish with a small reception at the shrine.

 Fell Point TourTour 2 (2 - 5:30 pm): Fells Point Walking Tour facilitated by Shawn Gladden, Executive Director of Howard County Historical Society.

Description: This tour starts with a chartered water taxi across the Inner Harbor to Fells Point, a ship model exhibit at the Fells Point Visitors Center, a walk down main street with an explanation of the areas extensive labor history, the Chesapeake Dry Dock Company, and the expanded activity during the 1830’s during the Caulker Wars.

If you want to come armed with some history, it is a recommendation that you read Frederick Douglass' My Bondage and My Freedom prior if able.) History and Achievements of the African-American Community in Fell's Point


LERA Welcome Reception at Baltimore's National Aquarium
When: Thursday, June 14, 2018, 7 - 10 pm

AquariumWe encourage everyone to attend the LERA Welcome Reception which will take place at the National Aquarium on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 7 - 10 p.m. This event has been sponsored by The Martin and Laurie Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution, The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University, Miles & Stockbridge, P.C., and Abato, Rubinstein, and Abato, P.A., so you can take advantage of this special event for only $7, which covers your admission to National Aquarium (typically $39.99 admission), hors d'oeuvres, and your first drink at the bar.


Join us at the Orioles park at Camden Yards!
When: Friday, June 15, 2018, 5:30 pm - ?

Camden YardsPregame Party inside the park, 5:30 - 7 pm. The Pre-game party is sponsored by Kahn Smith and Collins, P.A. and Major League Baseball and will include all you can eat dinner and drinks, but a ticket to the game is required for admittance to the park.

Baseball Game (Orioles V.S. Marlins), first pitch 7:05 pm.Tickets in the LERA block are $65 and our premium seating is in section 58. Come network with other LERA members and enjoy the Orioles Stadium.

Stay for the firework display immediately following the game and it is the Orioles floppy hat promotion night! The park is across the street from the Hilton Baltimore.


Maryland LERA Chapter presents: Maryland Crab Feast
When: Saturday, June 16, 2018, 7:30 - 10 pm

The LERA Chapters would like to invite you to an authentic Maryland Crab Feast at Nick's Fish House! In Baltimore, Maryland crab feasts are taken seriously – and are also serious fun. If you’re in Baltimore, you’ll want to experience a crab feast for yourself. The LERA Chapters have sponsored this event so that tickets are only $45! Roll up your sleeves and enjoy this Maryland tradition! Buffet style dinner will include: hot steamed crabs, salad, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, buffalo wings, pasta salad, homemade potato salad, corn on the cob, cole slaw, seasonal vegetable medley, freshly baked cookies & brownies, soft drinks and iced tea and a cash bar. Additionally, Nick's Fish House has the Zion Reggae band performing from 6 - 10 pm. You won't want to miss this event!
