We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Research Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Programs, Labor, the Research Manager will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of labor-related issues, with a focus on the intersection of labor, technology, and bias. The ideal candidate has 1-4 years of experience, a passion for economic justice, and is eager to contribute to achieving the organization’s mission.

Specific areas of responsibility for this role include:

  • Growing Subject Matter Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of labor-related issues in the tech industry and the intersection of labor and technology. Identify and explore potential areas of specialization within the organization.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of project management for specific initiatives or research projects, ensuring successful execution and timely delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Understand key stakeholders and effectively engage with them. Maintain relationships on behalf of the organization, fostering collaboration and information sharing.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify and elevate risks and opportunities related to ongoing projects. Work collaboratively with teammates and supervisors to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge Gap Identification: Identify gaps in knowledge and research, working with teammates and the supervisor to address and fill those gaps. Contribute to the development of comprehensive and informed organizational strategies.
  • Expert Representation: Accompany senior staff to presentations as a project or program expert. Develop educational and briefing materials on our subject matter and initiatives for partners and external audiences. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the subject matter and communicate effectively in various forums.

This role is ideal for someone with the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (in addition to required experience below)
  • 1-4 years of experience in research, project management, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Passion for economic justice and a commitment to the mission of TechEquity Collaborative.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to take in a wide variety of perspectives to inform the organization’s point of view on labor.

Position details:

  • This is a fully remote*, competitive salaried position with medical/dental/vision and retirement benefits. 
  • Location is remote with quarterly meetings in Northern California.
  • We value work/life balance and offer unlimited time off, flexible work hours, and a 4.5-day work week.
  • The salary range for this position is in line with our organizational payscale: $64,833 to $81,042. This represents the present low and high end of the Organization’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. Salary range is set based on our headquarters region (100 driving miles from Oakland City Center). Outside of the headquarters region, the organization adjusts the payscale, not to exceed 10% adjustment, based on location to ensure equitable pay across the country.

  • Our interview process includes:
    • An initial phone screen for 30 minutes (or less).
    • Typically, the second interview is a panel with members of the team and lasts for 60-75 minutes.
    • The final interview is with our Senior Vice President and Chief Program Officer and should last no longer than 45 minutes. 
    • A successful candidate going through all three rounds should plan to spend no more than 3 hours total in the interview process.
